How to Choose a Vaporizer…Where, What, How?
Many people struggle with how to choose a vaporizer for the first time. There are many types of vaporizers and it can be intimidating. To keep it simple when deciding what to buy, we recommend to keep these three things in mind…Where, What and How. Remember a lot is based on personal preference and determining what will work best for you and your lifestyle.
1. Where will you vape most?
If you’re planning to vape herbal or concentrate material on the go, then you’ll want to get a portable vaporizer or pen vaporizer. Yet, if you’ll likely be vaping at home all the time, then you might want to go with a desktop unit.
On the Go
If you’re looking for a quick, easy and discreet way to enjoy your material of choice while you’re out and about, then a pen or portable vaporizer is for you. Pen vaporizers are simple to load and operate. Pens are available for herbal material and concentrates or both. They start heating with the push of a button or by taking a draw depending upon the device you choose. This makes them great for on-the-go use, and they can be used with more discretion in public places than larger, portable options.
If you’re looking to take advantage of all of the benefits of a true vaporization experience, then a portable herbal material or concentrates vaporizer is for you. Portable vaporizers typically offer more advanced options and are usually higher quality products overall. Most are still typically small enough to fit easily into a purse or pocket while packing more punch for on-the-go use.
If you are looking for a stationary device to keep at home only, consider a desktop vaporizer. Desktop vaporizers are sturdy and need to be plugged in, making them great for at home. If you are primarily vaporizing at home, then a high-quality desktop vaporizer is a good choice.
2. What do you plan on vaporizing?
Not all vaporizers work with every material. Make sure you pick one that works with the material you plan on using the most. Vaporizers can be found for herbal material, concentrates or for both.
Vaporizers designed to heat herbal material in its raw flower form are known as herbal vaporizers. Herbal material should be ground and then inserted into the herb compatible chamber. The oven chamber will heat up the dry herbal material and release a vapor which can then be inhaled. To get the most out of your experience, be sure to grind your material finely to break it down and create more surface area for the heat to reach.
Concentrates are a concentrated form of a plant material such as waxes and oils. Due to these products being a concentrated mix, you have the benefit of only needing a very small amount to get solid effects. If you are looking to vaporize concentrates you will need a vaporizer that specifically is compatible with concentrates. Many vaporizers have capability for both herbal and concentrated plant material.
3. How is your material is heated?
There are two types of heating methods for vaporizers: conduction and convection.
Conduction heating works by direct contact of the herbal material with a heated surface, usually a solid metal or a screen. We recommend to periodically stir or shake the material if you are using a device that utilizes conduction.
Convection heating works by passing heated air over the herbal material, vaporizing the material more evenly and efficiently. This makes convection heating the preferred choice for many looking to get the most out of their experience.
